My name is Roy Butterfield and I have been living here since 1993.
I came to mayrhofen working as a ski guide for a UK holiday company and after my first winter here I was hooked on the Zillertal.
I then spent 8 years working with this company finishing off as resort manager and in between worked a winter season in Canada as resort manager for another company to get chance to do my dream of heli-skiing and dog-sledding.
This led me onto to finally get my own sled dog, Shawnee an Alaskan malamute.
Previous to this life I spent 12 years in the services and was member of the RAF mountain rescue service, which led to my love of the mountains.
I became a ski instructor in the services and then finally became a BASI qualified ski instructor in 1996. Since then I have skied in many countries and have been instructing alpine and telemarking to all levels of clients and friends.
With my experience and background, I hope I can help you get the most out of your holiday in Zillertal and look forward to meeting you.
